With great sadness, we report that Tracey McCaw, Co-founder of Deep Roots, Clairvaux Farms, and mother of two boys, died unexpectedly on April 12, 2022.
Her untimely death deeply pained us all in the Deep Roots community. However, we believe that the best way to honor Tracey would be through the creation of a fund that helps our homeless children. The Tracey McCaw Memorial Fund will be administrated by Deep Roots and used to assist her family with burial expenses and support our homeless children through annual scholarships. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible gift to support the Tracey McCaw Memorial Fund, please send a check to Deep Roots, P.O. Box 113, Earleville, MD 21919 or click here to make an online donation. Please make a note that your donation is for the Tracey McCaw Memorial Fund.
Tracey’s legacy at Clairvaux Farm started 35 years ago; when at 12 years old, she and her family came to the farm seeking shelter. Tracey struggled with homelessness constantly and was often the primary caretaker of her younger siblings. Finally, as a young adult, she was able to make a home for herself and her sister and brother so they could finish their education. She struggled heroically all her life to overcome the chaos of her childhood, the sadness of which never entirely left her. She raised her two boys, James and Luke, whom she loved dearly, so they would never have to experience homelessness which dominated her childhood.
As a co-founder, Tracey was the light that helped give birth to Deep Roots. She wanted so much to help other children who, like herself, struggle with homelessness through no fault or failure of their own. Over the years, Tracey has helped guide our organization in assisting the thousands of adolescents, families, and staff who have been a part of our Deep Roots community.
