Deep Roots Legacy Fund

Our Mission

Ending Homelessness One Family and One Child at a Time – In addition to serving as a homeless shelter for children and families in the community, Deep Roots strives to break the generational cycle of homelessness. Our program encourages children and their parents to envision a brighter future, to sustain healthy relationships, and to navigate a course towards personal and social responsibility. Through better life experiences, with mentors, and by providing healthy life-models, education, and supports, Deep Roots seeks to show our families that homelessness is not destiny. Ending poverty and homelessness begins with the building of community, relationships, and in genuine human meeting – beyond barriers of race, class, and religion. Community enriches all our lives, and the lives of our children; it lays the foundation for the gentle and peaceable world we long for: One in which the violence of poverty and homelessness have no more place.

Ways to Give to the Deep Roots Legacy Fund

There are many meaningful ways to support the Deep Roots Endowment that reflects your values and financial goals.

Bequest in Your Will or Trust
You may include Deep Roots in your will or revocable living trust by designating a specific amount, percentage, or residual gift to the Endowment Fund.

Beneficiary Designation
You can name Deep Roots as a beneficiary of a retirement account, life insurance policy, or other financial account. This is often a simple form change and does not require revising your will.

IRA Charitable Gifts
Individuals age 70½ or older may make qualified charitable distributions directly from their IRA. In some cases, these gifts may be directed to support long-term sustainability initiatives. Please consult your advisor regarding eligibility and tax considerations.

Donor Advised Funds
You may recommend a grant from your Donor Advised Fund to establish or grow the Deep Roots Endowment.

Gifts of Stock or Appreciated Securities
Donating appreciated stocks or securities may provide tax advantages while making a lasting impact on the Endowment.

Gifts of Real Estate or Other Assets
In certain circumstances, real estate or other non-cash assets may be contributed to support the Endowment.

Life Insurance Gifts
You may designate Deep Roots as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or transfer ownership of an existing policy.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a gift and receive fixed income payments for life. After your lifetime, the remaining funds may support the Deep Roots Endowment.

Because Every Child’s Story Matters, Let Your Legacy Be Part of It And Help Protect This Mission for the Next Generation.

What is the Legacy Fund?

The Deep Roots Legacy Fund is a board-designated investment fund created from charitable gifts to support the long-term sustainability of our mission. Contributions to the Legacy Fund are invested with a focus on long-term growth, helping strengthen the future stability of Deep Roots Family Homeless Shelter.

The Board of Directors retains oversight of the fund and may determine when and how distributions are made to support our programs and services. This structure allows Deep Roots to respond to present-day needs while thoughtfully building financial strength for the years ahead.

Why is the Legacy Fund important?

Families come to Deep Roots at some of the most difficult moments of their lives. In those moments, stability matters. Consistency matters. Hope matters.

The Legacy Fund helps ensure that Deep Roots will always be here when a family needs shelter, safety, a warm meal, and a path forward. By building long term financial strength, we are protecting this mission so that children facing homelessness today — and those we have not yet met — will have a place to begin again.

The Legacy Fund is about more than finances. It is about keeping hope alive for generations.
