Deep Roots’ “Kids Helping Kids” program fosters personal growth within our volunteer students and teaches them social responsibility. Our students are drawn together by a desire to help homeless kids in need. Our student ambassadors come up with their own creative ideas for awesome FUNraising ideas that are powered by them and supported by us to raise money for the many homeless children in our community. That is what makes the Deep Roots “Kids Helping Kids” special. Our students develop the entire FUNraising event from concept until completion, no matter how large the task, all aspects of each campaign are handled by students. No matter what fun idea the students come up with each time, their goal is always the same: to put on the best campaign ever, and help as many homeless children as possible.
Our program goes both ways: students develop leadership, teamwork and organizational skills and learn lasting philanthropic values along the way. By developing companionate leadership skills and encouraging community engagement, we hope to empower our next generation and teach them how to make a difference in the lives of those living in less fortunate circumstances.
Our program was inspired by two good friends, Caitlyn Huff and Abbi Jackson, who opened a lemonade stand then took to social media to sell hot chocolate and s’mores kits so they could help our homeless children at the Deep Roots, Clairvaux Farm. Caitlyn and Abbi saw the need and took it upon themselves, letting their vision create itself! “It is compelling and inspiring to see the compassion in these two young ladies,” said John Thompson, Executive Director for Deep Roots.
We are looking for students and teachers to help develop this worthwhile program in their schools. For additional information on our program or to participate, please fill out the below form and someone will contact you.
