Volunteers are a vital part of Deep Roots success. Hundreds of volunteers support Deep Roots each year and the number is growing. The board and staff of Deep Roots encourage interested persons to join us in our mission to provide every child and youth with the tools to overcome the challenges encountered in homelessness. You can help by becoming a volunteer today.
To ensure the safety of our children and families, volunteers who will be regular and / or frequent volunteers, must complete an application and undergo a criminal background screening, free of charge. Deep Roots staff will verify volunteer clearance using our online process.
Each Deep Roots program has priorities set by its coordinator that are based on the needs of the children and families concerned. Deep Roots staff have oversight regarding volunteers and volunteer opportunities with each
program.
Become a volunteer in three easy steps.
1. Complete a Volunteer Application to let Deep Roots know you are interested in volunteering and to identify potential activities where you might like to contribute. We encourage you to look at Individual Service Opportunities for ideas.
2. You may be asked to undergo a background check. If so, we will email you the link. There will be no charge for the background check. The results of of your background check will not be shared.
A social security number is required to apply. All required information must be entered in order for the application to be submitted. Except for the e-mail address, the information you are asked to provide (name, gender, date of birth, and race) is required by the agency conducting the background check.
We use your e-mail address to communicate with you about the status of your background check and once you are approved to volunteer, the volunteer opportunities you’ve expressed interest in completing. You will be informed about the status of your background check via e-mail.
3. Please remember to sign in and out using the Volunteer Sign-in Book in the front office, or online here. Your volunteer hours help not only our children and families, but also help Deep Roots obtain funding.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent / guardian or staff member.
